Unikraft members, at the ACM ASPLOS 2022

Unikraft members will be at the ACM ASPLOS 2022 presenting a tutorial “Unikraft: Specialized OSes for Safety and Performance the Easy Way”. The Unikraft members Alexander Jung, Felipe Huici and Costin Raiciu, will also be presenting the paper “FlexOS: Towards Flexible OS Isolation”.

The 27th edition of the ASPLOS will take place in Lausanne, Switzerland from February 28 until March 4, 2022. ASPLOS is the premier forum for interdisciplinary systems research, intersecting computer architecture, hardware and emerging technologies, programming languages and compilers, operating systems, and networking.

The tutorial “Unikraft: Specialized OSes for Safety and Performance the Easy Way” will present Unikraft, a unikernel SDK aiming for extreme specialization. The tutorial is planned to take place for 6 hours. Each section in the tutorial will consist of a short presentation / demo (10-15 minutes) followed by practical work to be done by each attendee on their allocated remote machine. Trainers from the Unikraft community will provide instructions and support during the tutorial. The tutorial will take place on Monday, February 28 (10am to 5:45pm CET – 1 hour break).

On the presentation “FlexOS: Towards Flexible OS Isolation”, the Unikraft members Alexander Jung, Felipe Huici and Costin Raiciu will present how they modify Unikraft and kraft to allow you to separate libraries at compile-time using component gates to increase OS security. It allows you to choose which separation (hardware- or software-based) technique to use and which libraries should be isolated. The presentation will take place on Thursday, March (10:00 – 11-40 CET).
